SERIOUS: Pet food recall
A number of foods are being recalled because animals are getting sick
and dying; kidney failure is the most prevalent problem and they are not sure what is causing it yet. Here is the complete list of cat foods: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_cat.html Dog foods: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.html PLEASE check the lists for any foods you may have and follow the guidelines on the website: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/Pres...l_03162007.pdf Phone Number 1-866-895-2708 -L. |

And there are more. Another site has a PDF file that lists more affected
foods than the ones listed on the Menu Web site. The complete brands list, as of Saturday morning, includes some surprises: They finally listed the recalled cat food brands today, and there are some surprises: Recalled cat foods: Science Diet, Natural Choice, Eukanuba, Iams, Max Cat, Americas Choice; Preferred Pets; Authority; Best Choice; Companion; Compliments; Demoulas Market Basket; Fine Feline Cat, Shep Dog; Food Lion; Foodtown; Giant Companion; Good n Meaty; Hannaford; Hill Country Fare; Hy-Vee; Key Food; Laura Lynn; Li'l Red; Loving Meals; Main Choice; Nutriplan; Nutro Max Gourmet Classics; Nutro Natural Choice; Paws; Presidents Choice; Price Chopper; Priority; Save-A-Lot; Schnucks; Sophistacat; Special Kitty; Springfield Pride; Sprout; Total Pet; My True Friend; Wegmans; Western Family; White Rose; and Winn Dixie. Press release at: http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html CNN/AP story at: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/17/pet....ap/index.html PDF at: http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_...er_Handout.pdf Remember, this is just the pouch and canned foods described in the news story (above), not dry foods. The news release from Menu Foods never says it regrets that some pets died, but it does mention TWICE how much the recall is going to cost them. "-L." wrote in message oups.com... Thanks to you and to Julie Porter for posting other links that may prove useful as pet owners try and figure out which foods they have and which they need to discard (and PLEASE do this for the sake of your pet!). --- Cory |

And now Hill's announces, too, that it will recall its "Savory Cuts" foods: http://www.hillspet.com/menu_foods/Menu_Foods_en_US.htm I'm amazed at how many foods are affected. When they started talking about Hills, Iams and Eukaneuba, it got my attention. Julie |

It is amazing how many foods are involved. I read that one company makes
food for 60 different brancds, it can get involved. Piglet and Sooter Dog will both get new food when I figure out what is left! Cinder and Beauty are on dry foods with toona ans pounce as treats, so they are safe. |

SERIOUS: Pet food recall
On Sun, 18 Mar 2007 16:29:53 GMT, John Ross Mc Master's nimble, little
paws typed: Dry foods are not effected. Cinder and Beauty are on dry foods with toona ans pounce as treats, so they are safe. Ditto he Anaïs is a fussy eater and eats only kibble; and ignores treats, so we're good. Nevertheless it's kind of astounding to think that almost every pouch pet food in the US is contaminated - it's as shocking as the e.coli on greens this past summer.... -- Purrs, Mme. Same here. We primarily eat KD dry and Science Diet dry, with a daily can of KD, which wasn't on the affected list. |
