Default Mass Vaccination Of Cats Day

Mass Vaccination Of Cats Day (MVOCD), also known as Emptying Of The
Checking Account Day (EOTCAD) went well. I thought I only had one
carrier, and would have to take four trips the vet (who is, thankfully,
only four blocks from here). When I went to retrieve THE carrier, I
discovered I had one other, larger carrier. YAY!

Okay, thinking, I knew Apache and Little Feet could share a carrier
because Apache likes him, and Little Feet likes everyone. I could put
Miss Emily in the other carrier, and get it over with so as not to scare
her off. Little Boy has bossy issues with all three of the others, so he
could go last and by himself.

I grabbed Apache first, because she has a habit of flattening out and
sliding under the couch when she feels threatened. Next, I grabbed
Little Feet, and put him in with Apache. Miss Emily was next. NO CARRIER
ISSUES!!!

Off to the vet. with only Apache serenading. Miss Emily only had one
little whine to let me know she didn't like this. Little Feet is just
mellow.

At the vet, I got Miss Emily out, because she was most likely to resist.
The only resistance was to lovingly (so I'll claim) clamp down on my
wrist while they took her temperature. No fights, fusses or viciousness
at all, and she calmly walked back into the carrier. THEN she hissed her
displeasure and laid down.

Little Feet, the calm and placid was the growler. He didn't resist all
that much, but he growled the entire time. This is only the third time I
have ever heard him growl. It was easy to calm him and get a purr
afterwards, though. He even let the tech take him in to take samples for
a senior panel. Results tomorrow.

Little Feet went back into the carrier, and Apache scrunched back in,
but let me drag her out. I think she was too scared to put up a fight,
and she tolerated the poking and prodding.

I took them back home and caught Little Boy lounging and grinning on top
of Senyah's chair, probably thinking he had lucked out. Nope. Stuffed
him, unwillingly into the carrier, transported him while he sang the
whole way, and got the examination and shots. He curled his head up
against the tech or against me, depending on who he was facing.

All done, Little Boy delivered back home, and everyone is settled back
into their usual locations and routines. Miss Emily insisted on going
out NOW, and I got a dirty look from Little Feet.

Little Feet has lost a little weight, and has ear mites. Nobody else had
ear mites, but we've got mite medicine to apply to everyone.

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Whew! I'm sure it's good to have that over with. The cats probably think
so too.

Congratulations! I have enough trouble with *one* cat and a carrier. I
cannot imagine more than that. Job well done! And done.
