Default Smudgie's Got Sore Gums

I took Smudgie to the vet for her annual jabs this week. Once again she
acted like a total hooli-cat but that's another story!

Her gums are very red and sore but there is no sign of plaque or tartar.
She is on a course of anti-biotics, I'm having to empty out the capsule and
try to disguise the powder in things to get it down her. So far she has
rejected it in boiled fish, chicken paste, cooked chicken and baby food!
She has also got to have toothpaste twice a day. There is no way she will
let me brush her teeth so the vet suggested I put a small amount on my
finger and try to get her to lick it off. If I offer it to her she backs
away and hides. However, if I manage to dab it on her nose she will lick it
off and then lick the whole lot off my finger! Funny girl!

Have you tried a thick, creamy yogurt? My cats love that. Frank and
Nikki used to eat their thyroid pills crushed up and mixed into sour
cream. Caliban loves the toothpaste, but I tend to forget to give it to
him. He's so eager to eat it that I can't even begin to 'brush' his
teeth with it.

Purrs fo Smudgie to feel better soon.

Thanks everyone for your get well wishes. I finally managed to get Smudgie
to take her last anti biotic this morning thanks to all your suggestions.
Although her gums look less inflamed they are still a bit sore looking.
Looks like she may need another check up and possibly more antibiotics

Sharon
