Geez, Nancy. What deity did you p*ss off? Sounds like it has it in for
you and Jeff. May I suggest going back to bed and hiding under the
covers for a few days ... Oh, gotta take care of the furrkids. Well
nevermind.

I agree!

What a cuuuuute pup, though. Such an adorable nose and unusual lion's ruff.

Maybe she was a fair trade for a dashboard?

Tuesday: DH still not feeling well, stays home from work. I take his
vehicle 30+/- miles to visit Mom and join a group of her friends for their
annual Holiday Lunch & Gift Exchange. When I go to leave Mom's, as I get to
Land Rover, I hear a hissing noise. Follow that noise to the left rear
tire. It's lost 1/2 the air. Call (sick) DH, he comes down & puts spare
on. We find a piece of metal in the tire - won't come out, and all we can
see of it is what looks like a staple (but know it's gotta be bigger in
order to puncture the tire). *Sigh* Tires for the Land Rover are a
"specialty" tire and cost around US$300. Each.

Wednesday: DH wakes at around 4am, can't sleep any more. Takes the dog
out. Tied to our dog tie-out is a little brown puppy. Female. Age around
8-10 weeks. Don't know the breed. I grab her and take her inside, put her
in our dog's crate. DH thinks that since someone has been in our yard, left
us a dog.... what else... checks the cars. Dashboard in my Jeep is
destroyed - stereo is missing. Land Rover wasn't locked, but his radio is
OK (upper part of the dashboard and damn near impossible to get to).
However, the adapter for his cell phone is gone, as is his GPS adapter.....
and 6 12-packs of pop I bought yesterday and hadn't brought in.

Is there a reset button, so we can start this week over?

Sorry, I don't think life has a rewind or an undo button. Believe
me, I've looked for them! Sorry to hear you're having a lousy week,
though, Hope It improves for what REMAINS of the week. Especially
sorry about the tires, and the ruined dashboard. And by your
inadvertent adoption of a dog who is only sort of house trained. But
she's probably better off with you than whoever tied her to a tree in
the middle of a cold winter night. If the ruined dashboard and the
dog donation are NOT connected to the same perp, I do wonder, which
happened first? It is a puzzlement, in either case. Maybe they didn't
INTEND to leave her, but left in a panicky hurry, thinking they were
about to get caught.

I think the same. Those guys were anxious to get away from the place
and plainly forgot the puppy.
Sounds to me like stupid kids (teenager meant here).
I hope they get hell home for loosing the puppy.
And they have no chance to get it back which might be luck for the
puppy.

Default UPDATE (OT) EGADS!!! Barely Wednesday and a rotten week!

As much as we would love to have a friendly puppy around the house, DH & I
have decided to take her to the local shelter. We do not have the patience
to housebreak a puppy (and since our elderly dog 'forgets' his
housebreaking, it will just be confusing to her), nor do we think we can
afford her with the expenses of our dog's medication ($60/month)..... It
breaks my heart as she is soooo friendly... ...... Of course, I am the one
to do it too, DH will cry just thinking about it...We had her on the couch
with us as we watched TV last night (she was kinda gassy as we kept smelling
poo, but since neither one of us had shoes on, nor been outside
barefoot....)... I kept putting her on DH's lap as my aging Tennessee wanted
my lap... but she kept coming back to me.... and when DH got up to mess with
his computer in another room, she stretched out (like a cat) taking up one
entire cushion of the couch!!!

On a side note, I sent a picture and a blurb to our local paper's special
interest section, and they posted it on their online version - with a more
in depth version to follow on Friday! I just emailed the reporter that
called me last night to let her know that "Vicky" will be at the shelter
this afternoon, and that she might want to put that any interested adopters
contact the shelter.....

Hopefully she'll find a new home very soon, she looks so good natured I
would think anyone wanting a companion dog would take her.

Ditto on the purrs for a good new home for Vicky. It's hard, but a
budget can only stretched so far before something has to give. Much as
I'd love more cats, I have to be sensible and stay with two.
