Default Emergency evacuations plans for pets being drafted in Louisiana

A new law requires state and local officials in Louisiana to map out
evacuation plans for domesticated animals, including evacuation shelters.
Household pets in carriers will be allowed on public transportation if they
do not endanger people.

I suspect that these plans will not work as well as it sounds on paper.
Still, at least it's a beginning. Maybe we learned something from Katrina.
