Default Romeo has gone.

My sweet, darling Romeo passed away yesterday (tuesday) afternoon at 5:35pm,
at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital.

Romeo's condition had deteriorated drastically. He had become anaemic and
his red blood cell count had dropped from 19% on saturday, to 13% yesterday
(tuesday). His chest cavity was filled with fluid and consequently he had
great difficulty breathing. To survive even a short time he would have had
to have his chest cavity drained of fluid on a daily basis and he would have
had to have a blood transfusion immediately. Even with these measures he
would not have survived much longer. His illness was probably caused by FIP
(although it wasn't confirmed because I wouldn't allow more testing.)

After him having been tested, poked, prodded, x-rayed and ultra-sounded for
the past three days, I didn't want my sweet Romeo to go through any more
pain. I made the decision to let him go with dignity. Mia and I were with
him till the end. It was probably the most difficult thing I've ever had to
do. (I'm still crying as I write this.)

He was my sweet Mamma's Boy, and Mia and I miss him terribly. Rest in Peace
my darling boy, I'll love you always.

Purrs to all, and please give your kitties each a hug for me.

I'm so sorry! What a shock. He was pretty young, wasn't he? Only 4 or 5
years old if I remember right. FIP is like that, it takes cats when they're
still young. That's such a tragedy.

Purrs for you and the rest of your human and feline family as you mourn
Romeo.

SO sorry to learn this. All the empathy in the world at this awful time.

Gordon (who just 1 year ago lost his darling boy Pericles to FIP aged
just 6)
& the FF, who will be purring for you.

I'm so sorry, Flippy! =o( I was hoping Romeo would pull through. But
if it helps, I think you made the right decision for him. I hope his
passage over the bridge was gentle, and I'm sure he'll be waiting for
you on the far side.

This is such sad news, but you made the right decision. I do consider it
the final gift of love when a decision is made to spare our wonderful feline
friends from needless suffering -- and when we stay with our furbabies to
the very end, as you did. You are in pain, but you have seen to it that
Romeo is not.
