Default my trip to the birdseed store

Had one of the funniest outings ever yesterday. I went to the Wild Birds
Unlimited store for a very few birdseed items (now that cat stuff seems to
monopolize my paycheck) yesterday. The owners have a rather plump
tortiseshell, Lucy, as their store kitty. I always try to say hello to her
when I go there and she's usually sacked out (literally) on top of the
stacks of bagged birdseed. Today, however, was different...

Lucy was having the time of her furry life scampering after a small gray
mouse around the store. Now, the store people assured me that she never
hurts them but loves playing with them. I looked at the mouse, we all
thought it was quite cute and they were going to liberate it after Lucy's
exercise. Let's put it this way, the mouse certainly did not seem too
stressed out; it even ran behind Lucy and bumped her tail; she jumped
straight up into the air! The store was not busy at all and I spent a good
20 minutes watching Lucy having a ball with her "friend." I told them they
should film this stuff and submit it to Animal Planet's funniest home
videos!

And yes, I'm still putting out my 3 peanuts daily for the mouse in my
rockpile...

purrs,
Christine

My mimi does this with squirrels, little ones, big ones. She thinks they're
kittens and play with them the same way except she's more gentle. I gave Mimi
two kitty treats when I had a ground squirrel running around. The squirrel came
and Mimi stepped back and let the squirrel take a kitty treat and eat it in
front of her...and Mimi just LOVES her treats. She doesn't let the other cat
take her treats. Ground squirrels will even eat dog food. Tree squirrels on the
other hand don't want her treats.

In ,
Christine Burel composed with style:

Lucy and bumped her tail; she jumped straight up into the air! The

LOL I wonder if they have "played" before? I've seen weird
combinations of playmates before, but only on TV. That sure would make
a great video!

And yes, I'm still putting out my 3 peanuts daily for the mouse in
my rockpile...
