Joyce *Dunno where Pam & Co. are exactly in NC but gas gallon price seems to be slightly higher in NC than here in MileHigh. A fill-up of a 16-gallon tank (my vehicle's capacity) is just about $10-15 short of one night's lodging in a decent motel/hotel there (excluding beachside). I doubt seriously that spa services - probably as common in TX as offered in my home state - the epitome of decadent vacation destinations, FL - are all over the place in NC lodgings, but maybe in the pricier places they are. Correction: possibly Vegas could vie with FL as "epitome" destination from what I read lately, but Nevada seems to be hit much harder in every way by current recession/foreclosure/gas crises. "Epitome" = toss-up. My criticism of 'Nipped's suggestion of a short "getaway" for Pam & Rob is limited to "spa services" reference.....NC is noted for many good things - vinegar-based BBQ! Yumyum! for one - natural gemstones (*not* diamonds) in parks you can go to and "dig up your own" jewels (in rock formations) - but *not* as I know it "spas" and accompanying pampering, LOL. I think 'Nipped was just thinking of what *her* idea of a substitute fun thing might be.Yeah, we DO have different notions of when you're at "broke" re financial resources. Here jokes abound, as well as on tv late-night humorists, that spending your "stimulus" may well be done at the gas pump, especially if you drive a big, gas-hog SUV that leads you to the pump lots more often than my 3.5L 6-cyl. single-cab light truck does.... It sounded absurd, Tweed, and you have no way of being aware of the above, but a short cheap "getaway" would be cheaper than the original plan...and our country - much much younger than yours - is not based, as yours is, on centuries of historical existence, but on small plastic cards we use instead of cash...LOLOLOL. I suspect Tweed is a practical soul, like me---I've never had a spa treatment *or* a massage and wouldn't dream of it. (I don't like strangers touching me anyway). But I agree that what I think is a total waste of $$$ to me, might be extremely beneficial to someone else--both mentally & physically, or that's what I hear from friends. Our kids have already advised us we are hopeless sticks in the mud as far as knowing how to have "fun." I hear that our gasoline is even higher than yours in Mile-High, which is absurd since we are an oil & gas state. But people are *still* driving their SUV's and nobody wants to carpool. That might change when it goes over $5 a gallon as predicted. Or maybe not. Sherry |

Pam S. crying selfish tears I could give you all sorts of 'maybe its for the best' or 'maybe this trip wasn't meant to happen' advice. But I'm still too busy sulking because I didn't get to go on a trip I had planned in April. It wasn't so much missing the trip as it was not having a real choice in the matter. The rebate thing has me confused to. I haven't been able to figure out who should get what for my kids/grandkids/us either. Doesn't help that my computer just hasn't wanted to be online lately. Purrs that the $950. isn't really gone missing. Meantime, which cat will tolerate a hug and a few tears? Jo |

- money into checking; -DH pays bills; -balance is remaining; -when balance is gone we are broke. meaning NO barrowing or plastic, sometimes like in June I buy the least groceries possible because the vet gets everything, Lee hopitus wrote in message ... Sherry I've never done a "spa" thing, either; I'm not high maintenance. I hear massages and pedicures and the like are great but I doubt I'll ever bother to find out. Besides, not one hotel I can think of that offers spa services costs less than $250/night and that *doesn't* include the spa services. Forget about raiding the mini-bar! Still, I take CN's post in the spirit it was intended - a suggestion for Pam & Rob to try to do some little something for themselves rather than beating themselves up about things. Jill |

Finding the MISSING money and how is went missing is the most important
thing right now. That Is a LOT of money not to be able to account for and a trip to the bank could answer those questions PDQ. There has to be a record of when it went out and then by who. I know Pam is crazy now about this, I know I would be and ready to kill someone if it was family. "jmcquown" wrote in message ... tanadashoes wrote: I've let Ginger-Lyn down and Rob as well. She would be happy to give me a massage any time. I envy people who can enjoy it. I've had a few massages, with her and with others, but I just really can't seem to enjoy them. I do call her and beg once in a while when I get a pinched nerve that just won't release any other way. Jo |
