OT BEAR
Last night (about 7:30) a black bear took down my bird feeder. This is
about one month earlier than last year. Now I am waiting for the hummingbirds. ---MIKE--- In the White Mountains of New Hampshire (44 15' N - Elevation 1580') |

Now I am waiting for the hummingbirds. Why, are you hoping they'll be able to drive away the black bear from their food source? LOL. That really made me giggle. I think the USA is quite an exciting place to live, wildlife- wise ;-) IF you like alligators in your yard (Jill) and bears (Mike). Must be such an adrenaline rush which I can do without. g Ok, you all have nicer weather than I do, in summer, but compare that with a bear in my garden - no contest. You also have worse winters (some states) I'm a wimp with alligators, bears and panthers. Nothing in the wildlife department will kill me here, as long as I stay well clear of red deer stags in the rutting season, which I find quite easy to do as I know where they are and I just don't go there in October. We only have one venomous snake too and I have never seen one as the habitat they prefer is not near where I live. Lucky Brit, or what? ;-) Tweed |

OT BEAR
Black bears are quite common in my area but most of the time they will
avoid humans. They are only dangerous if it's a mother with cubs. Because of the warm weather last week they are out of hibernation about one month early. Winter is back today with a thin coating of snow and a temperature in the twenties (F). My hummingbird feeder was starting to freeze so I had to bring it in. Amber and Tiger couldn't care at all. ---MIKE--- In the White Mountains of New Hampshire (44 15' N - Elevation 1580') |
