Last night's "King of the Hill"
So, anyone watch King of the Hill last night? It had a rather negative
portrayal of cats, which I found irritating. The jist of it is, Hank Hill signs up for some military "take care of a recruit's pet while he's at war" program, and was expecting a dog. Instead, he gets a cat. The cat has serious behavioral problems, but this is portrayed as normal cat behavior. Such behavior included running up to Hank and attacking him continuously for about two minutes, which is something real cats just don't do; if a real cat doesn't like someone, they'll just avoid him. It's annoying to see cats portrayed this way in the media, especially since they ARE the number one pet in the US, outnumbering dogs by far. Why must cats always get the short end of the stick in the media? Dogs are always portrayed as perfect, even though they can have behavioral problems too! -Z |
