Did you ever see the movie "The Amazing Mr. Lippit" (or something like
that.. it's been years). CP reminds me of Don Knots in that movie..
wanting to be a fish ... only CP seems to want to be a cat. I never
thought it was a bad thing in that movie, but I was a kid when I saw
it. I still don't think it's a bad thing; there can be a lot worse
things to want to be.

DAGGON AOL!! (I keed)

See the
thread around 11-14-03 titled Cat Lost or Abandoned.
CP described a cat seemingly in dire straits, declawed, abandoned,
and lost at his apartment complex. He was urged to take the cat in
temporarily until permanent lodging could be found. He mumbled
something about not having the money and he hadn't actually seen
the cat, then mysteriously dropped the subject.
Sherry

I, too, wonder what the ending of that story is.

Fair enough. I didn't come here to make you worship Clay. For goodness
sake, I don't even worship the man or ANYONE. For me, it's about free
speech and libel. PETA has a track record of making false claims. They
have a track record for lots of suspect activites and I came here to
correct a misnomer. Clay Aiken's fear of cats has been well documented
in radio and tv interviews. Whether you find Clay Aiken's comment
about cats (which was facetious as noted in the article by the
Rollingstone writer) to be hurtful is obviously very personal and your
perogative. You are the "Cat Protector", I get that. But to repeat
lies that were issued in PETA's propaganda to somehow justify your
emotions is 1)not necessary and 2)baseless. You have every right to
feel how you do towards Clay Aiken's comments. I'm not making excuses
for Clay Aiken, I'm only repeating the facts. HE is SCARED of CATS.
Much ado about nothing. You can try and reduce this to "claymate"
talk, whatever that is, and make analogies that are truely reaching,
but I'm not a claymate, so it wouldn't get you too far anyways.

One of the Claymates returns to defend his/her tin god Clay Aiken. He said
those hurtful words about cats and now he needs to deal with it and stop
behind hiding his legions of fans and his lawyers. Geeze! You Claymates act
like you are best friends with him or soemthing. You say that I erroneously
assigned my own reason to the article and his words. I don't see how you can
possibly blow what he said out of context. Make all the excuses you want for
him but Aiken said those hurtful words about cats. I think those that excuse
his words and back him no matter what are guilty themselves. It may not be a
crime to say what he said but it also doesn't make it right either.

In point one it seems that in the eyes of Clay Aiken fans that if you say
one word against their idol that you are the enemy. I have seen how
fanatical you fans get when worshipping a person. Look at the Michael
Jackson case. He has been accused of a child molestation a crime he was
accused of before and yet his fans will stand behind him. They don't want to
believe that he might be guilty. If he turns out to be, then I am sure his
fans will make some excuse for what he says or does.

You'll have to learn that your Clay is not superhuman. He is not a god and
he certainly is no idol. I think you just don't like the fact that there are
people out there who don't agree with what he said. The funnu thing is you
Clay fans make up stories such as him hiding in kitchen pantry's, etc just
to excuse his referring to cats as evil. Just because Triumph and the SPCA
(please note this is the SPCA in his own state not U.S. wide) choose to back
him doesn't prove anything. For all we know the SPCA in his state has had
brushes with the law regarding how they keep the animals. It seems no matter
what is said you'll back Clay but you are not going to change my position
because I love cats and thus can think for myself. I don't have to follow
anyone like you obviously seem the need to. Clay is no god and he is
certainly no idol in my eyes.

"Would a person who love cats say that?" ---Wow. I guess I really do
have to break it down for you. No one said he LOVES cats.

Point #1: Not everyone has to love cats. Your world seems very black
and white, either you love them or you're the enemy. Goodness. Just
because he has a fear of cats doesn't mean he doesn't want you to have
your cat. Clay owns a dog, he is a dog person. That's not a crime.

Point #2: You erroneously assign your own reason to something he
clearly goes on to explain in the article. "There's nothing worse TO
HIM then a housecat" because he is SCARED of cats. Not once did he
say it's because he just plain "detests" or "hates" cats. Please point
to where it is that he says "I detest cats". The article does however
quote Clay saying that he is "afraid" of them.

If a friend got a new cat he didn't know about, Clay would just hide
in another room. One time there were 3 cats, he hid in the kitchen
pantry and people wondered where he was until they heard an "ahem"
coming from behind the door. It was quite comical actually.

Both Triumph and the SPCA are backing Clay. Because they can actually
read. You might want to try that...actually read what's before you
rather than putting words into people's mouths.

Once again, a Claymate has to make up a lot of crap to defend their

says he detests cats. In case you have no idea what the word means it is

the
same as hate. He called a cat "Satan" and says "there is nothing worse

you
Clay fans have proven my point that you'll support Aiken no matter what

Context means everything. He has also explained in countless radio

He must have loved his kitten so much to have had the event affect him
til this day. In the end though, the point is there's no rule where
everyone in the world must LOVE cats. Clay's a dog person. Big deal.
BTW, the SPCA (The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)
is standing by Clay against PETA as well. PETA is so dumb, they're now
turning their attention and going after David Letterman and Jack Hanna

If you actually read the rollingstone issue, it's pretty clear

that
the interviewer was recounting Clay's idiosyncrancies - rarely

swears,
many allerfies, is so afraid of water he can't drive across

bridges,
etc. Fear of cats was among the details. Clay never said he hated
cats, he said he was afraid of cats, haunted by them ala Satan

because
he accidently ran over his own kitten and was traumatized at

watching
it die.

Even PETA's own spokesperson "Triumph the Insult dog" stands by

Clay
AGAINST PETA. I especially like the part where Triumph calls PETA
"cuckoo". From his official website
http://www.triumphtheinsultcomicdog.com

[excerpt from site] That should be the end of the story. But hold

the
phone - we're dealing with PETA. Bong - cuckoo! As you see, I made

a
typically poopy quip in the ad: "Get Neutered - It Didn't Hurt

Clay
Aiken." It actually wasn't my first choice. I really wanted "Chop

'Em
Off - They Didn't Taste That Great Anyway." But PETA was jonesing

for
the Clay joke. Whatever. Just give me my pub and go back to your

spray
painting.
Turns out PETA had an ax to grind with Clay. They released the ad

and
a press release, quoting Clay talking trash about cats, like "Cats

are
Satan." Never mind that Clay keeds. They quoted Clay saying "I ran
over a kitten when I was 16." Never mind that they left out the

part
where Clay said it was an accident that haunts him to this day.

(click
here to read his quote) Well played, PETA. And I thought I was the

pub
whore.
So here I am -- caught in the middle of crappy tunes and looney
tunes... when all I wanted was to whore myself. Of course, I have

to
stand with Clay, even if they hadn't twisted his quotes. This is

about
a basic human and animal right that must be preserved... the right

to
poop, to joke, to keed. Look, I sing "Cats Are C***s" on the CD,

but I
keed. I don't hate cats. I've even banged a few in my day. Just

never
let a cat give you a hand job." [end of excerpt]

The article doesn't say he hates cats. It says he is AFRAID of cats -
"I wasn't afraid of cats before. But now they scare me to death".
Context means everything. He has also explained in countless radio
and tv interviews that he is "afraid of cats because of the accident".
PETA is so dumb, they're now
turning their attention and going after David Letterman and Jack Hanna
over some Niambi animals. ha

That article says he detests cats. That is the same as hating them.

I
guess
we got another Claymate on this board who believes his idol can do

no
wrong.
I guess calling cats "Satan" and saying "there is nothing worse than

a
house
cat" in your eyes means he loves cats right? BTW, nowhere in that

article
does it say that it was an accident regarding that kitten. Clay

needs
help
and you can tell your fellow Clay fans that in my opinion they are a

bit
cookoo themselves. Don't the Clay fans have a life? Apparently not

if
they
are camping out to see him.

My position may not
always be popular but at least I can go away knowing I fight for what I
think is right.

Oh, Lord. This sounds eerily familiar. It's the strangest usenet phenomenon.
This is the second person I've run across who considers flaming on on usenet
"fighting for what is right." When push comes to shove, and "fighting for what
is right" actually involves spending money, getting your hands dirty and
bringing a stray cat into your home and figuring out how to separate it from
your cats and exactly what you're gonna do with it, suddenly it's not such a
hot idea. Pffft.
