Default Getting settled in.....

I'm totally exhausted but i am 85% moved out of my old place. All the
furniture got in the new place yesterday and last evening i brought
the kitties.

Mayhem yowled the WHOLE way, Mischief whined, and Imp curled into a
ball in an attempt to become invisible.

Once in the new place, we went into the bedroom and i shut the door.
I sat down in front of the carriers.

"Ok kitties, I know you are upset with me. But this is our NEW home
now, and I know if you give it a little time you will learn to love
it." and I opened the carriers.

Imp skulked out and immediately went under the bed. Mischief peeked
out, then came out a bit and looked around, and then followed him.
Mayhem looked around with WIDE eyes and then followed.

I shut the bedroom door and the BF and I went to get food. We were
both exhausted. At that point i was going on 33 hours without
sleep.

I came home and we hooked up one of the TVs and VCRs in my bedroom.
In the meantime i opened up two cans of gooshy food. I filled the
bowls and set them on the floor close to the bed. Then I went to the
kitchen, gathered up my food and drink and went back into the
bedroom.

I came back to find Mischief half out from the under the bed, and
eagerly eating. Nothing stops her. As the BF and I sat on the bed
eating. One by one they peeked out and nibbled. But if we so much as
moved they shot back under the bed.

After a while, Mischief got bored and decided to come out. I still
brought the stool to help her climb up onto the bed. She climbed up,
sniffed and then flopped over. "The Queen seems to be satisfied and
therefore demands scritches....NOW."

Eventually Mayhem joined us on the bed but still was cautious. She
jumped off and then slowly when out into the hall. Then Imp skulked
out and also went into the hall, crouched so low his belly touched the
ground.

This morning, Mayhem jumped up and declared it was time for
breakfast. We filled the bowls, but only Mayhem munched.

From what i can tell they are all curious in their own way. Mischief
I brought out into the living room, where she sniffed and start
rubbing on everything within her reach. "This doesn't smell like me.
NOW it does."

Mayhem demands scritches every time someone is on the bed, which is
usual behavior so that is good. So far I've only see Mayhem use the
litterbox in the bedroom, but I'm pretty sure they all know its
there. Right now she's curled up on one of my pillows, having a wash,
so that's a good sign.

Mischief comes out every once in a while. I know she is acclimating,
but since she is still weak in her limbs she doesn't go very far. I
need to save money to take her to a specialist.

Imp comes out only for food and to look around, then darts back under
the bed. Under the bed is always the safest place for him, so I'm
sure he'll be ok.

Tomorrow i'm going to try to bring over the other litter boxes. I
need to clean the old place as much as I can, since my landlord is
being a lying bottom-feeder. (long story, will post more later)

Thank you all for the purrs. Now it's just cleaning and unpacking and
more moving.

As I posted on Facebook, You know you're a sucker when you're
arranging your computer monitor, hard drives and other stuff on your
desk and purposely leaving room for a cat to sleep.

I'm glad to hear you and the cats are getting settled. I'm sure they'll
adjust fairly quickly. I hope you can get some rest soon.

Moving is just a giant PITA, and it's a lot of hard work, as well.

I know how kitties like things to stay the same as much as possible, but
I'm sure they will settle in their new home.

Good luck with your damage deposit; I know how many landlords just view
it as additional revenue.

Oh, I thought that was just the normal way of organizing computer equipment.
We need to keep our priorities straight, you know.

Good luck with the new apartment. I hope all of you (two-legged and
four-legged) enjoy it.
