Damn, maybe they don't want to come out! Jill --don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' no babies! Purring seems to happen while kitties breathe in and out, so if they're purring inside of her, it probably sounds more like gurgling. |

Have you contacted the Guinness Book of World Records yet? ;-)
Joy "Tanada" wrote in message k.net... Ok, she STILL hasn't had them. Mike checked her out with stethoscope and can still hear a bunch of purrs. He also says that Sonya's nipples are full and starting to produce milk. She is starting to produce a sort of line indentation down the center of her tummy. Does that mean anything? The family isn't happy, but they agree with me that if she hasn't had them by Friday, we won't be leaving on vacation until she does have them safely. I've also asked Rob to make another TED appointment if she hasn't produced them by morning. Penny spoiled us. We didn't have an idea how far along she was, and her fur was so long one couldn't really tell that she was pregnant. So when she popped them out, it was a pleasant surprise. I could never be a cat breeder, too much stress. I grossed Mandy out by telling her to do the hockey cheer as well as the one I was doing for her. She says that I'm really sick. Pam S. |

I Googled "cat gestation". Normal time is 61 to 69 days depending on size of breed. Variations to 71 days have been noted. Do you have any idea when she became pregnant? Time always seems longer when waiting. MLB It didn't just seem long, it *was* long! P.S. If we're still taking bets, I think that four kittens will be born around April 7th. |

Breeders don't have to go through this. 63 days is pretty standard. Some queens and some breeds will go a couple of days longer. I'm not questioning Sonya's condition. But a bit surprised the place you got her was even aware of it that early on. Jo |

Time always seems longer when waiting. MLB We got her on January 29th. 3 days left in January, 28 in February, and 22 (so far) in March. 25+28= 53 And we were told that she was due at any time when we got her in January (they lied). So she's at least 53 days along, and I'd guess at least 63 days. So maybe soon. Pam S. |

Purrs that she has them soon! Dirty litterbox offerings to TED for making you guys (and US!) think it will happen any day!! just kidding, mostly. hehehe TED was the one who said any time up to two weeks, then later up to three weeks. The shelter was the one who said any time. Sigh. I just wish she'd have them and get it over with. Pam S. |

Tanada had some very interesting things
to say about The World's longest Cat Pregnancy is Still On: I Googled "cat gestation". Normal time is 61 to 69 days depending on size of breed. Variations to 71 days have been noted. Do you have any idea when she became pregnant? Time always seems longer when waiting. MLB We got her on January 29th. 3 days left in January, 28 in February, and 22 (so far) in March. 25+28= 53 And we were told that she was due at any time when we got her in January (they lied). So she's at least 53 days along, and I'd guess at least 63 days. So maybe soon. IME, it's hard to tell if a cat is pregnant before about halfway through pregnancy, so HOW did they know she was pregnant 10 days or less into gestation? -- "The universe is quite robust in design and appears to be doing just fine on its own, incompetent support staff notwithstanding. :-)" - the Dennis formerly known as (evil), MCFL |

[[There is a simple solution to your dilemma. Sit down with this kitty and
tell her that under no circumstances should she have the kittens tonight as it would be entirely inconvenient for you and completely disrupt your plans and schedule. Megan (really...try it...) ]] LOL, if THAT lecture doesn't inspire her to have about 18 kittens on the spot, nothing will. ;o) Donna |

Only 11 of them were alive when born, and only 9 of the 11 survived. It was a mess.... |
