Tuna question
I know that tuna as a primary part of a cat's diet is a very bad
thing... however, is a bit of tuna added to a cat's regular diet of canned food harmful? I ask 'cause I'm still having trouble getting Meep to eat consistently, but she'll eat anything that I put about half a tablespoon or so of tuna in. FWIW, we retested her the other day, and she has an infection (one vet says bladder, another says kidney), instead of kidney failure as the previous blood tests seemed to indicate. My specialist vet opines that she's in Stage 1 renal insufficiency - stage 4 is CRF... Anyway - is a little tuna twice a day, mixed in with normal canned cat food, harmful? jmc |

Tuna question
If it's for a few days, that amount mixed in with other food sounds
harmless. If she would eat chicken or turkey baby food, you could try mixing that in with regular food (all three of ours go nuts for meat baby food). |

Cats are sensitive to onions and it can become toxic. MaryL |

MaryL Mary is right! Though, if you buy the tiny jars of Gerber or Beech Nut brands of chicken or turkey, they contain no onion. IME, it's the "mixed" flavors (like chicken noodle soup) that add onion. |

When Amber (RB) was very ill, that was one of the commercial foods that she would eat. MaryL |

I'm a bit worried about the sodium content, but I can't afford to continue to do what I just did - buy the really expensive low sodium tuna... I mixed it with El Cheapo stuff to lower the sodium content of the cheap stuff... she doesn't seem to care jmc |
