How's this for a negative statement about cat food?

I decided to throw out the rest of the old dry kibble that Vino hadn't
been eating. I figured I may as well dump it on the side of the road
in front of the house for any stray cats or dogs to eat instead of
putting it in the garbage.
Dennis and I watched all day from the living room. No takers. Some
birds flew by and grabbed one kibble or so, but really the pile of
food was being thoroughly avoided.
Woke up the next morning to find a huge dog turd right on top of the
pile of kibble!
Now I'm feeling really guilty for having tried to get Vino to eat that
food.

I remember on flight training, attempting to share my military rations
with a stray cat. He wouldn't eat the stuff they call "sandwich meat."

Heh. Well, it was Iams Original. Vino's eaten Iams all his life but
this was the end of one of those huge Costco bags that my MIL had
brought with her from Canada on her visit a couple of years ago. It
sat unopened in our cupboard for about a year and then, once it was
opened, it took Vino about a year to get through it. I think it had
gone stale despite my efforts to keep it sealed tight. Vino also gets
bored if he doesn't get a change of flavours every so often.
