Fancy Feast!

I should imagine a Google search for Waterford Crystal ought to get you in
the arena of something suitable. Be advised, Waterford may require you to
upgrade to fresh shrimp and select Sushi, as is hand fed at Jo Firey's.
Cheers,

Persia absolutely adores Fancy Feast. She wakes me up (if I'm not already
awake) by tapping me on the shoulder on Saturday mornings. Tap-tap...

wake
up. It's Saturday! Then she rushes to the kitchen and waits while I give
her the once-a-week treat of a can of Fancy Feast.

I think she deserves a cut-glass cat bowl for this, like in the

commercials.
Anyone know where I can get one?

The cats may not use my Waterford! (Only because there are only 2 sherry glasses
from my husbands stay in Britain 40 years ago. And they are far too small for the
cats to benefit)

My neighbors cat drinks from a cut glass stemmed glass on their wet bar. (I think it
is a glass or dish referred to as a "Sherbet" He stands and waits for his glass to
be filled before he will drink. Will not touch stale water. I'm surprised he
doesn't insist on bottled water. He's pretty much a very spoiled alley cat and none
of this setup is nearly as fancy as it sounds.

Ours do drink bottled water. But only outside and only because its always around for
the kids to take to football practice and there is no water source near the water
dish my husband keeps with the dry food dish on the workbench in the garage. So
there is usually bottled water there to fill it with.

Britta's mom would have a fit it she saw ours sneaking into the iced drinking water
we put on our nightstands. Charlie used to put a glass of cola to sip in case
he would start coughing at night, but the cats kept spilling it so he switched to
water.

Ahem: Crystal? I thought crystal had an unacceptable lead content? (Hmmm,
that didn't stop me from buying my fiance crystal liquor decanters for
Christmas several years back!)

It does have lead, but I'm pretty sure it cannot escape into the food/liquid
you put in it. It's not a crystal though, it's only glass with a fancy name.

(Hmmm,

Crystal is perfectly safe. The process is indeed to add lead to the molten
glass, which increases the density and causes greater refraction of light,
hence the name crystal. The density of carbon crystals works to put the
sparkle in diamonds, you know. Anyway, the lead is so fused in the mixture
there is no danger.
What you are likely thinking about is the occasional problem with
ceramic glazes containing lead. From time to time, one hears of someone
getting lead poisoning from the lead leaching out into food, particularly
acidic substances such as fruit juices. It can happen when the glazing
process does not go as intended.
The difference is leaded glass is made at higher temperatures and mixed
thoroughly, whereas such is not always the case with glaze.
The introduction of adding metal to glass reportedly got started when a
gold medal, awarded to a glass maker by the king, fell from the man's chest,
into molten glass he was working. It turned the glass red, from which glass
makers began to experiment with other metals. Never did hear, if the man
who made the discovery, got another gold medal.
In your particular case, Jill, the greater danger is likely to be found
in the contents of those decanters. Mayhaps you've heard that *candy is
dandy, but liquor is quicker?*
Cheers,
Jack

Well, they never spill the water... I think they just try out the cola and lick the
ice cubes, then knock it over as a statement. I noticed earlier, Charlie has a small
bottle of cola on his side with a cap on it. I guess those aren't just handy in the
car to prevent spills.
