Little Miss watched the fireworks
Hi,
This is my first time posting to this group. I have an 11 month old kitty, named Little Miss. Even though she is a curious little thing and sometimes braver than she should be, I was worried about the fireworks last night. We live in a neighborhood that lights up on the Fourth with lots of noise and commotion. I stayed home with her because it was her first year, and I wanted to be sure she wouldn't panic, as so many cats and dogs do. I should not have worried. She sat spellbound in the window, watching every single fireworks. She didn't come down off the window sill until every single fireworks had gone off. I don't know which was more entertaining to watch -- the cat or the fireworks. Of course, this is the same kitty who loves to ride in the car and watch every thing, and lets me walk with her on her leash in the park. I should not have been surprised. Curious little thing. How did all the other pets do? --Little Missy's Mom |

How did all the other pets do? --Little Missy's Mom Welcome Little Missy's Mom! We can't wait to hear more stories about Little Missy! My clowder were fine - they completely ignore all commotion from outside (unless it's another cat invading their territory - even though they don't go outside, they "guard" the perimeter of their home!). I think cats tend to pick up feelings and emotions from the people they live with and my attitude about the noise of fireworks is mild irritation (and last night watchful alertness since we're experiencing a drought here in Houston and I was worried about all the dry pine needles on the roof catching fire). So for them, it was just business as usual - they didn't twitch a whisker! Hugs, CatNipped |

My Persia hid in the closet first from a barrage of fireworks and then from severe thunderstorms which followed right behind. Any loud noise startles her. Jill |
Our "bitties" (we got them as 3 week old orphans) are now fully grown,
but still completely oblivious to Stuff Outside. Our Nocturne will not demean herself by responding to foolish noise. Smokey, our Feral, is the only one who cares. He spends Canada Day under the desk. --Fil |

John and I went outside to watch the fireworks and I came back in to check on them a few times but they weren't bothered in the least... later in the night some kids had fireworks out in the street behind the apartment, and Scouty was watching them with interest from the windowsill. Thunderstorms don't scare them either - they sit on the windowsill and watch the rain! -- ~Karen aka Kajikit Crafts, cats, and chocolate - the three essentials of life http://www.kajikitscorner.com |
Spicey did ok. It wasn't too loud.
