Nice but strange.
 

I've just had a wierd encounter. Nice, but strange. A gentleman just
came to my door, having seen Lilly-Whiskers story in the paper. He had
tracked me down because the paper had printed the street that I live in,
and he had asked a neighbour where I lived, using my photo in the paper
to ID me.

He dropped off a donation of kitten food, some kitten toys, and some
kitten buscuits. I let him meet Lilly and I *think* I have persuaded him
to volunteer for Cats Protection. *VBG*

It was strange, because this morning I was debating whether to go
shopping for more kitten food as we're running out. It was even more
strange, as I was debating whether I had enough money in my bank account
(I don't) to spend on kitten toys, or whether Lilly would have to make
do until with her ping-pong balls and bits of paper until I get paid in
2 weeks.

We had a nice chat, and he seemed very nice, even if the circumstances
*were* a little odd.

Still, I guess he subscribes to the "paying forward" idea, like I try
to. It was a very kind gesture and I was quite touched.

Wow, what a nice rarity! How lucky for you. What I do when I don't have
enough money to buy a new cat toy, I just crumple up some foil that I had on
some leftovers. The cats LOVE it. They bat it around for a good 15 - 20
minutes. I have to say that the foil balls are their absolute favorite toy.

That was very sweet of him! You know what the girls' favourite toys
are? Little tiny balls of foil from hershey's kisses - whenever we eat
them I crumple the foil up and wrap about four layers around the ball
so it's a good size for batting and pouncing... Silver also adores a
little white wooden knob that came off a little drawer - apparantly
it's also just right for pouncing and batting, an it makes a noise as
it skitters across the floor... kitties are very versatile players :)

I don't think it's particularly weird or strange. There are a lot of animal
lovers out there, and a story like Miss L-W's in the newspaper will often
bring them out of the woodwork.
It obviously touched this man's heart so much that he felt he had to make a
real effort to find you. I think that's wonderful, bless his cat-loving
heart and may Lilly enjoy her new toys.
You may even find that Lilly comes into even more goodies from the newspaper
readers!

"Paying it forward", "Karma", whatever you want to call it, I subscribe to
the notion that if you put good energy into the universe, somehow, somewhere
(usually just when you need it) good energy will come back at you. You did
a wonderful thing to help Miss Lilly Whiskers when she needed you and
someone else came along to help out just when you needed it. It's really
*not* just random kluons bouncing around that makes up our world!
