Unfortunately, we were too late getting "Inky" to the vet. Ben did all he
could - got a heating pad to warm her and managed to get some formula down
her. He was petting her and she would "mew" every time he stopped so he sat
there petting her and she just took a few big breaths and then quit
breathing. I'm grateful that she didn't have to die alone, but, naturally,
Ben is devastated by this. The poor little lost one is now truly lost, but
she won't be ungrieved or forgotten. Ben is going to leave her for a little
while so he can mourn for her, then later dig a grave for her in our
backyard alongside Percy and Bandit and Hunter (and get a small headstone
for her later). I imagine Percy and Bandit and Hunter will be at the
'Bridge waiting to show her the ropes - at least I can dream it's so.

Purrs for her little lost soul and Ben's peace of mind would be greatly
appreciated. This is turning out to be a really hard Christmas for both of
us - and Ben doesn't even have the "release" of a group like this who
understand. The sports groups he usually hangs out in would not know how
much this has devastated him.

Purrs for Inky to have a smooth crossing. I'm sure Percy, Bandit and Hunter
will be there to help her.

I believe in a place much like the Rainbow Bridge. Inky did not leave
unloved and uncared for. That is all of us can ask of this world, to love
and be loved and the little one had that. The length of time isn't as
important as the fact that she "was" loved and not alone. Prayers and Purrs
for you all.

I wouldn't say she is lost now. I'd say she's safe, as she was for the last
few hours of her life.

I am so sorry to hear that. Inky is in a better place now.

I believe that cats are really angels

Come to bless us with their presence, for a while

Then they return to heaven

Such small creatures, so soft and warm

To give so much love and comfort

They become our friends, confidants, companions

They are our family, our children

And when their little lives are over

We miss them so very very much

The hole in our lives seems endless

The tears to never stop

It does not seem fair that this should be

That these small creatures who give so much for so little

Should stay in our lives for such a short time.

Take comfort in the knowledge that they await us beyond the bridge

And do not give up

There is always another one who needs a home

Lost, hungry needy

Keep the door to your heart open

Let there always be room for one more

Let the next little angel bless you with its presence

For a while, until it too must return to heaven

And be an angel once more

At least she had a chance.

Without you and Ben, she would have been gone much sooner: cold, sick,
dirty, hungry and very much alone.

Instead, Inky went the Bridge warm, clean, cared for, fed, and above
all: loved.

And of course, she knew all of this.

loved, if only a short time. Cared for to the best of your ability. The dear one knew deep her being that you were there for her. She died loved, and over the Bridge she is surely grateful for you. Someday she will tell you so. Inky was not lost, for she found you. You gave her love and the dignity a living being deserves and knew you felt she deserve a chance. Purrs for the dear baby, and for you and Ben.

Blessed be,
Baha
