http://www.catbanter.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 Cat anecdotes (rec.pets.cats.anecdotes) For the telling of cat stories. They can be stories of your cat, someone else's cat or just a cat you've seen somewhere else. The stories can be humorous or sad but should steer clear of advocating animal cruelty. IME, most of the various "banter" posters are one hit wonders who post one very brief thing then disappear into the ether. That observation has certainly held true in other newsgroups. In a cooking newsgroup I frequent, a "banter" poster wrote, "I like to cook on weekends." How thrilling for you! No mention of what she likes to cook, just that one cockamamie statement. I'm sure we'll never hear from that person again. Some of them may be mistaking the portal to Usenet for "chat" and expect instant replies. Those people have no idea what Usenet is. OB Cats: Persia slept next to me most of the night last night. I love to be able to reach out and pet her and hear that purr start up. It's still amazing to me how much space one cat can occupy. Jill ~~~~~~~~ Also: We are on rpca, and that is quite a good place to post the type of stories that could be called "banter." Concerning your reference to the cooking newsgroup: There is one person on there (I'm sure you know who I mean) who seems to think that she has to post to *every* message...several times, with great frequency. She will even post statements like "I don't know" or "I don't like that," as if every message is being sent directly to her. MaryL |

Sweetie Pie gets on the bed every night and purrs and cuddles. After about fifteen minutes she leaves but comes back later. I don't know what she does because she won't tell me.

My little girl, Persia, is getting up there in years. There simply aren't that many cute little anecdotes to share these days. But I try. It will either be a one-liner (usually in the negative) or she'll use the reply to write an extremely long saga... about nothing. Jill |

So don't reply to them unless you check it out |

Half the time the people who post using it post once then disappear. They don't seem to understand they aren't joining some real-time chat. Jill |
